Courting sofa, tete-a-tete (French for head-to-head), first became popular in the 19th century
Allowed courting couples to sit face-to-face but also kept them from sitting too close to one another
This piece belonged to the Hubbell family and is seen in both photographs
Piano is an 1893 Steinway ''Music Room Grand", autographed in 1986 by John Steinway and Iowa's own Roger Williams
